The Undersea Explorer

DAY 1

Arrive at Alotau Airport (IATA code GUR), Papua New Guinea & meet Terry Smith from PDT & your local driver who will transfer you to the vessel. If you are already in Alotau, make your own way to the Alotau Marina, Alotau. Meet your fellow divers and the crew. Once all divers are on board a safety briefing will be conducted. Dinner included. Overnight steam to Samurai Island.(Please note: this is a sample itinerary only as this itinerary is of an exploratory nature, so new dive sites will be found. The crew will find the best diving with location & dive sites subject to weather and diving conditions; with the safety of the divers and crew foremost; and that there is no guarantee to see any stated Discovery). (Transfer only valid on the day of embarkation).

DAY 2

You will have up to four dives (including a possible night dive). Possible dive site: Samurai Island - a Manta Ray cleaning station is located in this area; Samurai Jetty - Macro dive with small critters. Overnight steam to the Conflict Islands. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 3

You will have up to four dives (including a possible night dive if offered). Possible dive site: Conflict Islands - These islands offer the worlds highest biodiversity; Irai, a majestic dive with corals & fish life; Coral Gardens, as the name suggests, this area is covered in hard and soft corals in an array of colours; Beluga, a site which offers swim-throughs and massive sea fans!. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 4

You will have up to four dives (including a possible night dive if offered). Possible dive site: Conflict Islands - Ships Passage, a drift dive where you cruise on the wall of the entrance of the Conflict Island lagoon, hard corals soft corals abound, possible to see sharks & other pelagic fish here.; Ginara Passage & Nikkis Fan Club, a truly stunning dive, huge Gorgorian Fans of all colours, swaying in the current, a truly breath-taking dive!. Afternoon excursion on to the main Island of Panasea where a tour of the Conflict Island Conservation Initiative Turtle sanctuary & operation will be held. Dinner on the island. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 5

You will have up to four dives (including a possible night dive if offered). Possible dive site: Conflict Islands - Aroroa South East Point, a drift dive with the possibility to see Leopard Sharks, Eagle Rays and Reef Sharks; Lunn Island. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 6

You will have up to three dives. After the morning dive, we steam over to Panaeti Island. After the second dive, a village tour will be offered. Possible dive site: Conflict Islands - Torlesse Point, an amazing dive with walls & sloping reefs, with schools of fish life & corals, with a chance to see a Hammerhead shark; Panaeti Island - WWII Zero Fighter dive (possible night dive here). Overnight Steam to Hastings Anchorage. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 7

You will have up to three dives. Possible dive site: Hastings Anchorage - Hastings/ Pannmote, East Island, schooling Barracudas, & pelagic life, cruise past. Overnight steam to D'Entrecasteaux Islands. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 8

You will have up to four dives (including a possible night dive if offered). Possible dive site: Sanoroa, Bobu, Fergusson Islands. Afternoon visit to a local village. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 9

Last day of diving with up to three dives (no night dive). prepare for tomorrows disembarkation, settle any accounts. Farewell Dinner. Overnight steam to Alotau. Possible dive site: Goodenough Islands - schooling Hammerheads are the aim to see in this area! Breakfast, lunch & dinner included.

DAY 10

Disembark at Alotau Marina, Alotau. Meet your local driver who will transfer you to Alotau Airport (IATA code GUR). If staying at a local hotel please make your own way. Breakfast included. Transfer included on the day of disembarkation only.
