VOLIVOLI BEACH RESORT

- FIJIAN RESORT-

VOLIVOLI BEACH RESORT

The Volivoli Beach Resort is located on the main island of Fiji,  offers private accommodations with panoramic beach & ocean views, with amazing diving just offshore!

On the northerly tip of Fiji’s largest island, Viti Levu lies a headland, nestled amongst lush rainforest & some of the earth’s healthiest coral reefs, you’ll find Volivoli Beach Resort.

After a two-and-a-half-hour picturesque drive, passing azure coastline, you will arrive at the remote island paradise, the premium, boutique, four-star, vacation destination on Fiji’s untouched Suncoast. Secluded & remote enough to forget the bustle of city life, but close enough (just 10 minutes to Rakiraki town should you want to do some shopping and exploring), Volivoli has everything you need while remaining rural & luxuriously untouched.

Located just off-shore is Bligh Water, also known as The Vatu-I-Ra Passage. The marine protected area world renown as Fiji's # 1 Dive region & is considered to be the 'soft coral capital of the world'. Diving the Bligh Waters 365-days a year, with seven different regions & with over 80 dive sites, you will be mesmerised by the vibrant colors & the healthy & active reef systems.

If that's not enough the resort offers unlimited FREE of CHARGE diving on their two house reefs, with world-class macro critters including sea horses, common & ornate ghost pipefish, nudibranch, cuttlefish, octopus & so much more.

Spread out over many acres on its own peninsula, each of its 33 ocean view rooms can be found along garden paths that wind through brightly-coloured hibiscus, fragrant frangipani & flowering bird of paradise flowers. When your not diving, spend your day basking in the sunshine around one of their pools, regenerate in their restorative spa, or lounge in a hammock by the beach watching the sunrise & set, sipping on a cocktail, before dining on inspired local cuisine in one of two, of their restaurants.

The only sound you’ll hear in the morning at Volivoli are the birds singing, the ocean lapping the shore, and the quiet hum of the dive boat coming into the house reef to take out divers, so relax & take in the quiet that is Volivoli Beach Resort.

ENVIRONMENTAL

The Resorts Marine Environmental Programs

VOLIVOLI BEACH RESORT has been active in working hand-in-hand with the Wildlife Conservation Society, Fijian Government, Flora Family, MacArthur Foundation, Pacific Community, Rescue, AFD Fonds Francais Pour as well as the local Mataqali (traditional landowners) in establishing & setting up the Vatu-I-Ra Conservation Park. There are three zones in the Vatu-I-Ra Conservation Park, both marine & terrestrial environments, which covers an area of 110.5 square km's. As Fiji's premier dive resort diving the Bligh Water (considered to be the 'soft coral capital of the world' & Fiji's # 1 dive region), the protection for this area is close to their hearts.

They have recently obtained a foreshore lease on the two house reefs directly in front of the resort, and are now working with the local Mataqali & local government to have these reefs area approved & ratified, as a marine reserve with a no-take area.

The resort consistently runs a range of internationally recognised marine & ecology courses including Sea Turtle Ecology, Shark Ecology, Manta & Ray Ecology, Marine Ecology, Coral Identification & Fish Identification.

Several months ago the Resort entered into a partnership with the University of South Australia, where they established anemone trails (10 dive & 10 snorkel trails) to monitor change. Although still early days, they're hoping to collect data that shows results on surrounding changes, growth & activity in a range of areas & depths.

MANGROVE REPLANTING - replanting programs enlist the support from both local & international schools. Working side by side with the resort's team they repopulate mangroves by first growing seedlings, then replanting in designated locations throughout the Suncoast. According to the participants its fun has good community involvement & is showing great results.

VOLIVOLI ECO WARRIORS - a program that is predominantly focused around 5 to 14-year old children & amongst other things, covers: Reef walks around low tide with marine critter identification & traditional Fijian fish traps, Mangrove exploration & understanding of their place in the ecosystem, Coconut husking, Snorkeling on the house reef ( techniques, fish iD), Basket weaving/jewelry making.

Volivoli Beach Resorts is committed to the environment, coordinating & running events with the local community & schools around days like World Ocean Day, World Environment Day, World Sea Turtle Day, & Earth Day. These events boost the education on these issues & create an involvement with the local community & schools, which in turn creates an understanding of the protection of the marine environment benefiting everyone.

The Vatu-i-Ra Conservation Park

The Vatu-i-Ra Conservation Park was established in 2017, through a unique partnership with locally-based tourism operators ( Volivoli Beach Resort), dive liveaboard operators, the communities from Nakorotubu District, Ra Provincial Office & The Wildlife Conservation Society. Together these partners established the Conservation Park over Vatu Island and the surrounding waters (covering 110.5 km2) & developed a management plan to protect the Park’s rich biodiversity. This plan has been endorsed by the Ministries of Fisheries, Environment, iTaukei Affairs & Tourism.
